Why is our training different

Having been a trainer for 2 other hypnotherapy-training organisations on reflection the training offered was very theoretical and offered no real practical element.

Hypnotherapy is a practical occupation. Courses crammed with superfluous knowledge, which will not be used, do not prepare you for the real world. Lengthy courses are usually repetitive in that the theory provided to extend the training hours lets you believe you are getting more.

Quality not quantity is the key.

In the real world of running a practise you run it like a business in order to generate income and enhance your skills.

Having worked in the business since 1989 and with thousands of hours under my belt I can tell you clients use hypnotherapy 90% in the main for the following:

Weight loss

Anxiety

Stop smoking

You can of course venture into other areas as I have done such a sports and business skills (public speaking, goal achievement)

So we concentrate on what people use hypnotherapy for and help you obtain real practical knowledge in order to achieve results.

Not just brush over it so we can upsell you some CPD a later date.

People use hypnotherapy for the 3 areas described above as the more psychological type of work goes elsewhere although if that fails I have found that they turn to hypnotherapy as a last resort. We do not train you to be jack-of-all-trades master of none.

We offer a course which is easy to understand the benefits of.

We do not confuse you with different types of Diploma, Master Diploma ,Super  Master Diploma etc. As offered by  Chief international executive leaders, running their "Academies".

At wellerassociates we offer 3 months post diploma support at no extra cost to help you establish yourself

We focus on the key skill of helping someone really relax with you. This is understated but essential. With out this you have nothing, as you cannot help a client achieve trance state. Therefore you cannot access the subconscious.

We refer this as master/mistress of the 60 minutes as that is the time you have with a client during session.

What works is a good solid basic diploma, which prepares you for the real work of running a hypnotherapy practise

Hypnotherapy sessions what happens?

Before a sessions starts a terms of business is sent to the client after the client has booked in. This confirms everything that has been discussed in writing and includes the number of sessions, payment options and directions to which practise they have chosen.

Once the client has arrived every effort is made to make them as comfortable as possible. Physical and mental relaxation being key. Comfy chairs being the order of the day.

After a fact find is conducted the induction starts.

Before any induction a very thorough explanation is given as to what hypnosis is and more importantly what it is not. Stage shows and films have shaped many attitudes, with the evil hypnotist controlling the person who is in their presence, invariably wearing black robes, with bloodshot eyes, and a slightly constipated look.

Once a client has been through the induction and programming /uncovering work a full explanation is given around the techniques employed. I refer to this as the debrief.

Feedback is important so that a person understands that they have engaged trance state.

It is an educational process and we both work as team to get the best possible result that a client is paying you for.

As each session progresses a client becomes more relaxed and free-fall relaxation often occurs. They do on "the drift" whereby the analytical conscious side of the mind is more relaxed, so the subconscious mind is open for positive powerful and beneficial suggestions. Results are everything.

Over the years I have been asked some strange questions including,” will I have an out off body experience”?

Or "will I astral travel"?
Such occurrences are well beyond my capabilities.

Some comments

“Sam’s experience in sales and proactive marketing was a helpful tool in the training as it gave a real insight into how a therapist can develop quickly and what is effective at securing clients. He also has a vast knowledge of different techniques which were brought in when relevant to the training.

Sam was personable and enjoyable to work with. I didn’t feel I was being ‘trained’ I felt as if he was helping me to learn. Too many people cannot connect with their classes and talk at the students, with Sam it was very much a synchronised effort to learn the knowledge and I felt that they really cared about my qualification”.

Hypnotherapy training some facts

The more organisations that recognise the hypnotherapy training the better it is?

Not so. A recognised body (there are several) that can independently validate the quality of training to set criteria and standards is enough. Their validation allows the training to award a diploma, which means that indemnity can be acquired which is a legal requirement to be able to practise and charge fees.

The more awards we give you the better the hypnotherapy training.

In the real world what matters, when you are running a practise is having the skill set from a hypnotherapy diploma that allows you to be effective, within the actual work streams that will be presented to you. Most work streams for hypnotherapy are based on smoking, weight loss and anxiety. Anxiety underpins most if not all of the work. Also phobias and whatever your chosen market is.

Even more important is having the tool kit to be able to attract clients and build up your skill levels and professionalism. Most clients are referred to you from other clients who have experienced successful outcomes working with you.

Hypnotherapy is a practical profession and results driven. Full time hypnotherapists who are the minority are self-employed.

Some training providers in striving to be able to advertise training in other areas, to attract more students, invariably go outside their own areas of expertise.

"HPD is the finest qualification in the land for hypnotherapy training"

This is often touted by training schools that offer it. HPD "training" is not really further training at all but rather relies upon the submission of a portfolio of varied material - scarcely viable evidence of either superior training or resultant superior practitioners. It often duplicates the diploma, which you are studying for

"HPD will be required for hypnotherapy training due to forthcoming regulation"

Not so. Regulation of any type has yet to be agreed. There is absolutely no link between the need for HPD to be able to practise and any forthcoming regulation.

"HPD is the only externally verified and independent hypnotherapy training in the land"

HPD has been created by the NCH. and is marked and assessed by them as such after a trainer has marked it. The NCFE produces the award. In my experience having trained students in it and thus having marked numerous portfolios, not all portfolios are then actually assessed. It is totally theory based.

"The more hours the better the hypnotherapy training"?

Not so. Quality not quantity. If a training provider knows the business, and what they are doing, and provides the number of hours required without unnecessary excess and no more, (with validation from a major body that has examined the training) you will be able you to practise successfully. Especially if free coaching back up and support has been provided.
